The price is for the consultation; any tests carried out during the visit are added at their own price. Pay by card in the clinic — no prepayment.
Emergency contraception (“Plan B”) in Denmark
You do not need an appointment or a prescription. The morning-after pill is sold over the counter at every Danish pharmacy (apotek) to anyone, without ID or a CPR number. Ask for levonorgestrel (effective up to 72 hours after unprotected sex) or ulipristal (ellaOne, up to 120 hours). The sooner it is taken, the better it works.
Pharmacies on and around Strøget are open daily; Steno Apotek opposite Copenhagen Central Station is open 24 hours. Book a consultation if you are unsure which option is right for you or outside the time window — or book an emergency copper IUD (DKK 1,500): fitted in the clinic within 5 days of unprotected sex, it is the most effective form of emergency contraception.

- IUD insertion (hormonal or copper) — DKK 1,500 — fitted by a specialist midwife; local anaesthetic is included, and if you need a prescription for the IUD itself, our doctor issues it as part of the visit (30 min)
- IUD replacement — DKK 1,500 — removal of your current IUD and fitting of a new one in the same visit; local anaesthetic included (30 min)
- IUD removal — DKK 1,000 — quick and gentle removal by a specialist midwife (15 min)
- Emergency copper IUD — DKK 1,500 — fitted within 5 days of unprotected sex; the most effective emergency contraception; local anaesthetic included (30 min)
All IUD procedures are performed by our specialist midwives, who are further trained in gynaecology and gynaecological ultrasound. The pill, patch and ring are prescription products in Denmark — a short consultation with blood pressure check is all it takes, and the prescription is sent electronically to a pharmacy.
Price and payment
Prices are fixed and shown before you book: DKK 1,000 for a 15-minute consultation or IUD removal, DKK 1,500 for IUD insertion, replacement or an emergency copper IUD (30 minutes). You pay by card in the clinic after your visit and receive an itemised receipt straight away — most travel and international health insurance policies reimburse the visit.
If a laboratory test or a longer consultation is needed, we tell you the price before we go ahead. There is no prepayment and no deposit.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get the morning-after pill without a prescription in Denmark?
Yes. It is available over the counter at all pharmacies, without a prescription, ID or CPR number.
Who will I see?
One of our specialist midwives — all women — with postgraduate training in gynaecology and ultrasound. Any prescription is issued through the clinic’s doctors and sent electronically to a pharmacy, so you leave with everything sorted.
Can you renew my pill from home?
Usually yes — bring the packaging or a photo of it. If the exact brand is not sold in Denmark, an equivalent is prescribed through the clinic’s doctors.
Can I have an IUD fitted or removed as a visitor?
Yes. Fitting (DKK 1,500), replacement (DKK 1,500) and removal (DKK 1,000) are all bookable online and performed in the clinic by a specialist midwife — no CPR number or referral needed.
Does an IUD fitting hurt?
Local anaesthetic is included in the price, so most feel only period-like cramping for a short moment. Take an ordinary painkiller an hour before, and plan a calm hour afterwards. The midwife talks you through every step.
I had unprotected sex — should I also get tested?
Consider an STI test about two weeks after exposure; see STI testing. If you are worried about HIV exposure, contact us or 1813 the same day — post-exposure prophylaxis must start within 72 hours.
Do you prescribe contraception to under-18s?
Yes, confidentially, in line with Danish rules.
