Forgotten, lost or run out of your medication while travelling? Or need a prescription for an acute condition? An English-speaking doctor can issue an electronic prescription to any Danish pharmacy after a short consultation.

A prescription is always issued after a consultation with the doctor — Danish law does not allow prescriptions without one.
The price is for the consultation; any tests carried out during the visit are added at their own price. Pay by card in the clinic — no prepayment.
What we can prescribe
- Renewal of regular medication you already take — blood pressure, asthma inhalers, thyroid, diabetes, cholesterol, contraceptive pill and similar. Bring the packaging, a photo of it or your medication list.
- Acute conditions — antibiotics for confirmed infections, treatment for UTI, thrush, allergies, migraine, travel sickness and more.
- Emergency contraception advice — note that the morning-after pill is sold over the counter at Danish pharmacies without a prescription.

Short consultation
The doctor checks that the medication is appropriate and safe for you, and may ask a few questions or take a blood pressure.
Collect at any pharmacy
The prescription is sent electronically. Show your passport at any Danish pharmacy (apotek) — there is one on Strøget a few minutes away. You pay the pharmacy for the medicine itself.
Price and payment
A prescription consultation costs DKK 500 and lasts 15 minutes. The price is fixed and shown before you book. You pay by card in the clinic after your visit and receive an itemised receipt straight away — most travel and international health insurance policies reimburse a GP visit.
If a laboratory test or a longer consultation is needed, we tell you the price before we go ahead. There is no prepayment and no deposit.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get a prescription without seeing a doctor?
No. In Denmark a prescription requires a consultation, but it is short and can usually be done the same day.
Will Danish pharmacies have my medication?
Most common medicines are available under the same or an equivalent name. The doctor will tell you if a substitute is needed.
Can you renew a prescription from my home country?
Usually yes, when the medication is licensed in Denmark and the doctor finds it appropriate. Bring the packaging or a medication list — foreign prescriptions themselves cannot be used in Danish pharmacies.
I take a controlled medicine — can you help?
In limited quantities, yes. Bring documentation from your own doctor (a letter, prescription copy or the original packaging) and the doctor will assess what can be prescribed to cover your stay.
How much does the medicine cost?
You pay the pharmacy directly for the medicine; the consultation fee of DKK 500 covers the doctor’s visit and the prescription.
